Support Asked For Jack Conaway Handicapped Accesibility Project

October 23rd, 2018 by BellaireFirstUMC

As a Church community, we want to welcome everyone to worship and share in our ministries. However; the current structure of our Church does not accommodate anyone with Handicap restrictions. Jack Conaway took notice and made it a personal goal to improve our building. He devoted countless hours raising money and trying to reach a solution, but ran into multiple difficulties given the building parameters.

Jack suddenly passed away on December 30th, 2013 and unfortunately was not able to see his goal achieved. Fittingly; memorial contributions were made to “The First United Methodist Handicap Accessible Fund” in his honor. The charities received was a good foundation to jumpstart Jack’s project but, being mindful of the Historical significance of our Church and meeting building regulations, we continuously ran into more obstacles. As we continued focusing on this need, we asked for prayer and patience. It has been a process, but nearly 5 years since Jack’s passing, our Church is closer than ever to making his vision a reality.

Jack was a selfless person, who undeniably put everyone before himself. He was kind, considerate, caring and left a positive influence on anyone who had the privilege to know him. Although we are close to completing Jack’s goal, we still find ourselves financially short of completing this project. In honor and remembrance of Jack, we are asking for donations to fulfill his hope. There isn’t an amount that is considered too small and 100% of the donations received will go directly into Jack’s memorial fund.
